Proof Tester
The Proof Tester is used
to check the strength of fingerjoints.
Essentially every piece
of fingerjointed timber is passed linearly through the proof loader
at 20 - 50 metres per minute, during which a pre-determined load
is applied.
The fingerjoints either
pass (remain unbroken) or fail (break).
The Proof Tester uses nitrogen
to power the load ram, while a hydraulic system is used to retract
the load ram.. The benefits of using nitrogen is there is
greater load accuracy whilst proof loading. The nitrogen
pressure system gives a quick application of the proof load and
the time taken to achieve the load is approximately one second.
When setting up the proof
tester you need to ensure that the infeed and outfeed systems
fully support the length of timber being loaded into and out of
the tester.
Loadcells should be calibrated yearly to ensure accuracy of load.
